Smita Yamgar, CCM
Smita Yamgar has seven years of experience in construction and project management, contract administration, vendor management, and design coordination. She is knowledgeable in the areas of planning and scheduling, optimization of construction resources, delay analysis, cost analysis, claims analysis, and contract negotiations.
Before joining CPMI, Smita initiated and implemented BIM and new project delivery methods for a construction contractor, such as, lean construction technologies, Last Planner System, Visual Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time Delivery, and Partnership concepts. She also employed the use of drones for progress monitoring. In total, she has worked on over 20 projects with a construction cost of over $600 million.
Smita has presented papers on productivity improvements, skill enhancement, cost optimization, and lean construction methods at international conferences. She has educated students, supervisors and skilled workers on various topics and techniques. Smita also developed a crew of 50 “Lean Champions” to create a healthy working environment in the construction industry.

Sterlite Optical Fiber Industry – Appointed as a Head for design coordination, project documentation for two Optical Fiber Industry projects worth $54 million. Instructed superintendent engineers in Clean Room protocols and monitoring at the construction phase. Prepared contractual Delay Analysis, Monthly Impacted Schedules for Extension of Time (EOT) and received EOT up to 17% for both projects and actively involved in contractual claims. Reduced operating expenses 15%, using innovative techniques like drones, Value Stream Mapping, Last Planner, Just-In-Time. Increased productivity of workers by 25% by developing training institutes for workers, instituted 4,000 plus construction workers and headed a crew of 400 no’s of Pan IIT Reach For India Foundation (PARFI) workers.
Mercedes Benz-Precast, Prefabricated Construction Project – Led erection of precast elements of size 3.15 by 15 meters, at 21 meter heights with 500 Metric ton cranes. Managed team of rebar bending operators, fabricators, crane operators, and site engineers, superintendents to achieve the flow of work with minimum wastage and cost optimization. Prepared schedules to precast fabrication yard and set an optimistic production cycle for prefabricated units. Conducted Value Stream Mapping, Time Motion Analysis and standardized prefabrication cycle to increase production. Assisted logistic team to prepare logistic plans for the precast store, transportation and erection of precast girders. Monitored execution of wet joints of precast units and the use of proper couplers for rebar.
India Bulls Power Plant Project – Co-coordinated project documentation, receivables and project closeouts for civil construction cost around $65 million. Tracked project schedules, prepared and monitored weekly, monthly progress reports, cost projections, monthly information system (MIS). Arranged progress review meetings, resolved RFIs, supported execution teams for resources like manpower, materials, machinery, etc. Prepared Master Construction Schedules, histograms for project procurement and execution stage of the project. Implemented Lean Construction Techniques, VDC using BIM modeling. Proposed Plasmolite walls instead of brickwork, plastering which led to saving 30% cost & 50% time. Guided to use Geopanels instead of a conventional formwork system to improve the quality of final product and productivity of workers and successfully implemented- “Last Planner” and “Partnership” concepts for more than 50 subcontractors.
